Moving To Scottsdale
You've made the decision to relocate to Arizona, and may even be in escrow on that new piece of Scottsdale real estate you've been dreaming of. Now is the time to start thinking about taking care of all the important little details that often get overlooked prior to moving into your new Scottsdale home.
Electric Companies
APS and SRP are the two main electric companies that service Scottsdale homes. Be sure to contact your appropriate provider
a week or two ahead of your scheduled closing to ensure a seamless transition.
APS offers the equalizer plan to it's clientele. The equalizer plan averages your annual energy consumption into 12 equal payments. This helps you manage your budget by evening out the lows and highs of your electric bill.

Water, Refuse and Recycling
The City of Scottsdale provides this service for Scottsdale home owners. Generally speaking, you will be provided with two 90 gallon containers. One for refuse and one for recycling. The containers will be emptied curbside once a week.
You will receive one bill monthly for all three services from the City of Scottsdale. Contact the City of Scottsdale 2-3 business days prior to your home closing to have your service activated. Your escrow information will be required to prevent having to pay an initial deposit for these services.

Telephone, Internet and Cable
The two most popular providers for telephone, internet and cable in Scottsdale are Cox Communications and Qwest. Both companies can provide you with all three services, and have many addditional features that can be added to enhance your experience. We have had great experience with Cox Communications, and a package including all three services can be had for about $100.00 a month. Cox's high-speed internet is lightning fast, and the DVR is a must-have.

Title And Registering Your Vehicle In Arizona
Upon closing on your Scottsdale home and becoming a resident of Arizona, you are required to register your vehicle at the DMV. Most vehicles have the option of being registered at your discretion for one or two years. If your vehicle is required to have emissions testing annually, you are limited to a one year registration.
Arizona has recently changed it's guidelines. License plates now stay with the owner. This provides some added benefits to the owner. The owner can get a credit for remaining fees and tranfer the plate and fees to another automobile (with an expired registration).
The steps required for registering your car and receiving an Arizona title are as follows:
Physical Inspection
The DMV will check for items such as the vehicle identification number, body style and other general information. If there are obvious mechanical and or safety flaws the DMV may require repairs prior to registration.
Emissions Test
Before registering, an emissions test will be performed.
Vehicle Insurance
The State of Arizona requires every automobile operated on our roads to have liability insurance through a company autorized to provide such insurance in Arizona. The minimum levels of insurance required are $15,000 for bodily infury for a single person, and $30,000 for two or more persons. They also requre $10,000 property damage liability.
Proof of Ownership
Your previous out-of-state registration will be required to be surrender when applying for your new Arizona title and registration.
Loan Information
Any lien on your current title will be transferred to the new title unless you provide the Arizona MVD with a lien release from the lender.
Signatures
Any parties that are listed on the application for title must sign the application. A notorized power of attorney is acceptable for parties not present in most cases.
Ninety Day Registration
If you arrive at the DMV without all the required documentation, you can ask to apply for a 90 day registration. This will allow you time to acquire the required documentation for the DMV while still being able to operate your vehicle. The cost for this registration is nominal at $15.00 .
License Plates
Your out-of-state license plates will need to be surrendered when you receive your new Arizona plates.
